Phazanzar wrote: how much for a chain mail cuirass? (not kidding... I want one ) That depends entirely on the material, pattern and size of rings you want it made out of. Something like the Mithril Coat worn by Frodo (made out of stainless steel) would probably cost in the neighborhood of $1000 if you bought it from someone who made it by hand. Larger rings would cost quite a bit less as it would be faster to make and there would be less material involved. Also you are looking at a couple months lead time. I haven’t made any pieces in that size for anyone else, afterall this is a hobby but I could point you in the right direction if you are interested! |

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. |

I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have a hobby. My spare time has been replaced by life.
My 9 year-old hooked me on card games, but he only wanted someone to beat . Weekends are chewed up coaching his hockey and/or soccer teams. Work occupies my weekdays (but doesn’t cut down on my message board posting ). And the rest of the time is spent entertaining or cleaning up after 14-month old twins. (My wife and I pass each other coming or going from the laundry room occaisionally...we smile and wave).
I’ve never been happier...life is great! |

Oh, yes, and Airsoft guns!
Those things are the bomb!
They’re really cheap and really fun to play with. Check out your local fine retailer today! (Look in Wal-Mart in the Paintball section. ) |

Yeah, I have a friend who makes chain mail, but it is not high quality. I like making wooden weapons, It is not very durable, but it makes a buck here and there. I just finished making a mace for a seven year old friend of mine and am now trying to decide if that was a good Idea. |
