Most of the forums I’ve been on do GP awarded by users that CAN be donated specifically to someone, but usually you do it through a place like your profile options page. Not publicly in a thread, but, in the forums that I’ve been on that use this system, the GP is not used to buy forum items/options, only used as a status symbol. In the www.fxhome.com/forums they have a lightsaber that changes in size and color due to their "force" level, and force is awarded with +1 ratings.

In this case though, I’d just go with GP awarded by users. But, to clarify, clicking the "thumbs up" button would NOT take away from your own GP "stash." It would just award that user with 1 GP. Right?

I also think it might be good to give some GP to a user when they place an order from CC.

Perhaps the main point of the donation option is that users who don’t particularly care about their GP can give it away to other users they like. This idea is basically incorporated into the new system anyway, so no problem there.

Pipeweed, you’re correct -- your own wealth would be safe. Mr. Green

This is a fair point, but I don’t see it as a problem. Even if GP becomes simply a measure of popularity, people are popular for a reason -- they’re friendly, they offer good advice, they’re known as top-notch players, whatever. It just might take new users a little while to get rolling, if what you suggest is true.

Some of the new Items in the “Forum Shop” that I think would be cool is,

Specialized Emoticons
that only can be used if Bought for say 15 coins.

Send wave P.M.
A P.M. that can be sent to groups of people, 30 Coins?

Group titling
Makes the ability to make a clan that you can edit and crop. 200 coins

Moderatorship
gives you the power to become a Moderator. 300 coins

Revolution
Gives you the ability to get Administrator-like powers. 2000+ coins

Blitzposts
All your post in the next 2 hour count as two. 150 coins

Coin to cash exchange
Allows you to change coins into cash, 1-

Stock market
Allows you to trade coins for cards and vise-versa and get to look at competitive pricing

I Don’t expect Cobra to do any of this, as it is unrealistic and you are probably already up to your nose with work, but what does the Thronging masses say?

the Thronging masses say bad idea. NO STORE CREDIT OR ANYTHING SIMILAR/IN ANY WAY RELATED TO IT. Think how much money spammers would get? It would put cobra out of business.

All right, the new system is in place and the old one disabled. That was relatively easy... Smile

You can only award GP when you are logged in, and only once every 15 minutes. You are also prevented from awarding GP to yourself.
