Ok, because of Chang’s problems I thought that it might be interesting to get a poll of what hardware (computer) setups people have. A couple of rules:
1) State your hardware as best as you can tell including manufacturer - Example: Graphics Card - EVGA 7800 GT with 256 MB PCI-E
2) No bashing anybody elses rigs. Up to about 4 months ago when I upgraded my system, I was running a P3-450 based Dell XPS-450T... Not everyone has the money to be constantly upgrading.
3) Feel free to use this to help people debate the merits of their system, particularly if they are looking to upgrade, but DO NOT turn this into an ATI vs. nVidia, AMD vs. Intel, or Mac vs. PC snipe fest.
Ok, now that the rules are out there, here is what I’m running from home -
Processor - Athlon 64 4000+ 939 pin processor (1 MB L2)
Motherboard - Asus A8NE
Ram - 2 GB Corsair XMS (4x 512MB) DDR 400 (underclocked to 333 due to the AMD memory controller)
Video Card - EVGA 7800 GT 256 MB PCI-E
Hard Drive - WD Caviar 200 GB 7800 RPM
OS - Win-XP Pro
All in a beautiful Sonata II case by Antec with a 20.1" wide screen flat panel monitor. Very pretty and a great mid-level gaming system. Bought the whole thing and assembled it by hand about 4 months ago. Quite fun! |

AMD Athlon XP1900+
1 GB RAM (I can’t for the life of me remember the brand, I only bought the second stick 3 months ago)
Maxtor 160 Gig drive
Maxtor 300 Gig Drive
All-in-Wonder Radeon 7500
Integrated Audio (working to upgrade)
all of this was free. my dad works for GE Security and brought home a bunch of stuff. we traded 2 300 gig drives for the mother board. along with all that I have a ton of pirated software (I didn’t pirate it, a pirate did, hehe) the only thing I bought for my machine is speakers and 2 sticks of RAM |

The machine itself is currently, um. Not working. Hasn’t since May. But I’ve been lazy and haven’t ordered the crap that I need to. I plan to in the next week now [payday!]. Plain offwhite case, 19 inch CRT etc etc....
Heres the deal, CRT > LCD in picture quality. And the look of a case means squat. So I dont plan on spending extra money on those parts.
One last thing, if you dont know what you have and want to know, PM me or let me know somehow and I’ll let you know exactly what you have |

The only computer that I "Own" is a HP Pavillion zd-8000 laptop. 17" screen (yes, it IS a laptop ), 2.1 GHZ processor, 80 GB Hard Drive, 1 GB DDR2 Ram, that’s about all I can think of, the processor speed might be a bit off, but I know it’s in the 2’s range somewhere. All I know is the video is lovely. |
