My original thoughts on this website were all positive. I believed it was a great opportunity for a writer to test his mettle, learn about how to write an article, and receive feedback from his peers. I wrote for all these things, to improve as a writer and more importantly as a player. Scouring magic websites, learning all the newest tech, figuring out the best strategies employed by the top decks of the times; this is how I spent my days and nights, preparing myself to write one article a month that would help me improve and help fellow players improve.
The first few months were good. I would write an article, receive feedback, mostly positive, with a few suggestions on how to write better. Taking these critiques into account, the next one was always better.
Then one day another poster joined and began to vote on my articles in an effort to improve the rating of his own in comparison. Completely ridiculous assessments were made of my posted decklists, ridicules of long proven strategies were placed at the end of my articles, totally untrue ideas of what was correct magic grammar turned into arguments, always with this same poster in the center.
Of course, I had worked hard on my articles, tested, looked into what were the best opposing strategies and how to beat them. I felt hurt that my work was being so poorly treated by someone who clearly didn’t know what they were talking about, but held so much influence due to the small number of voters on this site. Because of this, I left cobracards to refocus my learning on playskill instead of writing.
Recently I returned to writing in response to a comment made about me in the message boards. Writing an article on the standard metagame was already accomplished, so it appeared that my option was to write about decks or limited, and since very few players on this site seem to care about 40 card formats, I felt deck lists were in order. My article went up, displaying a list, a general description of strategy, and a series of match up advice, explaining what cards matter against specific decks. There was one error: I failed to post my results against solarflare, the often-top-deck of standard.
Still, I received a 3 for my total rating. The same poster who wrote the awful reviews of my prevous articles decided to write his own article as well. In it he described nothing. He posted reviews of cards that were either inaccurate, useless, or had been said. Yet his article obtained a higher rating than mine.
I can’t explain this phenomenon, but perhaps you all can. If you would like to, please feel free to use this thread, because I won’t be, just as i won’t be using any of these threads or this forum in general for another long while. I would love to flame a few of you, but I feel that having this post remain visible is more important. If you would like to read what I would have written, please e-mail me at svgtech@gmail.com |

The poster probably knew what the people on the site thought was a good
article so he post all the "important" stuff even though it was techinally illegal. All a can say is that there are mean people out there who make mean posts. |

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. |

| Too bad you’re going away again, inresponse, but I do understand your reasons, and respect your decision. I hope you’ll still give me some feedback every now and then, maybe I could e-mail you some decks, you know. I’d also appreciate if you’d drop by until the end of this month atleast once again, to take a look at the article I’m writing, it’s some piece of work, and I think you’ll like it. It’s got more than 40 pages on Word right now, and still going. |

Oh come on, just because it is a quality article that covers everthing it needs to is no reason to dock it.
Don’t start saying Felipe’s posts are "too long" for you. |

It’s not really that long, but it has a bunch of decklists, and those take up quite some space.
My block article, for instance, was 18 pages long. |
