Hey, Cobra, I’m not sure wether you’ve seen it or not, but to try and expand the MTG Forums, I’ve been adding the top tier Standard decks (we’re having Regionals around the world, I’ll do it with block decks, Extended decks, and such, accordingly to the "season") to the MTG Deck Archives, so netdeckers can come HERE, too, to check them out. To try and give you an edge, I’ve been psoting their lists, the cost to create them here at cobra cards, how to improve them with FS and, most importantly, how to play them, and how to play AGAINST them. However, since I do not want a bunch of people arguing pointlessly over tried and true decklists btu Ihave no choice other than posting them in the Deck Clinic, I’ve been posting them as locked threads. So, I’d like some feedback from you as to how I should be doing this, or if I shouldn’t be doing it at all. Also, if you like the idea, you should advertise Cobra Cards as both a Rules Resource (I’ll be contributing to that area much more now) AND a Deck-o-pedia sort of thing that is, so far, pretty "unique".
Then, if you like it, as a last request (if it’s possible), I’d like you to add a Deck-o-pedia section, where I’d keep decks always up-to-date, and with it’s own "search" tool. Why? Because as Ravnica rotates out, Standard ecks will change, and the old ones won’t be suited for Extended, so I think a Deck Archive area, at least for MTG, is not that great of an idea, as decks become obsolete quite often. So, when Standard metagame shifts, I’d just clear the whole area, and start a new one. Of course, we could have the Deck Archives, but I’d Archive decks only when the format it was conceived in suffered a rotation. Before that, as new sets keep coming out, decklists keep changing, so no point in archiving them. When the deck rotates out, THAT DECK won’t change (at most a new archetype with similar basis will arise), so THEN I could archive it and tag like: "Standard-Legal in 2007: 9th Edition, Ravnica Block and Time Spiral Block". I’d also have a sticky section (I WILL make it, btw, working on it) with a Chronological timeline for MTG with the sets/blocks, for quick research. As a last request, if you decide we WILL be revamping the deck forums, I’d like you to add card images/rules text at least back ’till 7th edition and invasion, for now, so Extended decks would link to the cards. If we starty getting more movement here, I can go for the Legacy/Vintage section, and older cards can be added.
Thanks, waiting on some feedback. |

| And while on the subject, is it possible to let moderators choose an option so the "brewing cost" or whatever you want to call it can auto-fill itself? This way, we don’t have to keep updating the list when you update prices. |

Lots of great ideas Felipe, thanks.
I’ll definitely encourage posting all the "netdecks" you want, but please don’t lock them. Arguments (as long as they’re about cards and not people) are actually a good thing for the forums. There are also plenty of other reasons people might want to reply to a post like that: "Here’s another version I’ve seen that’s been doing well." "How can I tweak this to get better odds against X?" etc.
I’m seriously considering a "deck price calculator" feature for all games, but that would be rather complicated and is probably at least a few months off. For now, I’d suggest that you post "estimated" price totals and then just leave them alone.
I’ve also been thinking about ways to revamp the Deck Archive areas, which are generally not well-maintained, and even at the best of times contain mostly out-of-date material. Perhaps a "wiki" would be a good system to use? |

| Most likely, but also separating the archived decks in sub-sections. For instance: if I decide to update an old Legacy deck by adding FS cards to it, all I have to do is "bump" the topic stating that, and then a mod coul archive the deck in a "new" section, like Legacy - until Future Sight. This way, no one would search an out of date deck by mistake, and we would keep updated decks at their rightful places. |
