Compromise on Debate Forum
« on: October 28, 2008, 07:59:22 am »
I have come up with a possible solution to this debate :-? on the chance of a Debate forum.

We create a Sticky topic with a relevant debatable topic, and leave it in the Council for a week. Mods will know which thread to watch, and everyone will know it is being closely moderated. We can then archive (where I dont know :-k ) topics after a week.

Uh...I guess we COULD, but I don't understand what that would really accomplish.

I really don't understand why we feel that debates need to be policed and monitored more than other topics. Yes, there's potential for problems whenever you have differing strong feelings on a topic, but why do we need to highlight them with their own forum or threads? How are they really any different than other topics? I think keeping them as normal, everyday topics helps keep them from causing serious issues because they are NOT set apart as "special" somehow.
Best regards,
Dáin

Presumption: If the party advocating change does not sufficiently prove that change would be beneficial, the status quo should remain intact.

Translation: It didn't go over well, so leave things alone.
