I guess my problem with the second one is that Frodo never did become a Wraith.
But the idea behind the first one I really do like. "Corrupted" companions are always something I thought would be a really cool splash idea. Another idea I had was a rule where if a companion's resistance ever reaches zero, begin a separate skirmish with that companion and the Ring-Bearer. But with ARBs and such...it just really wasn't that great of an idea.
