I was poking around the RPG forums and noticed that some of you wanted a dice roller. So here it is! This was coded by a guy named Mock, who borrowed from a bunch of other people. So I suppose it's a collaborative effort.
There should be a pop-up link that gives you a variety of options, but I can't seem to get it working. Fortunately, it's quite simple to add the "code" to roll dice. Here are the instructions:
# Roll-and-sum 4d8 - : dice 4d8 :
# Percentile - : perc sm,t : - where s is a plus or minus sign, m is the modifier to the roll, and t is the target percentage to roll under. The modifier part is required, even if it's 0 - you have to put a + or -0. Not elegant, but it works.
# ORE - simply put : ore p :, where p is the size of the pool.
# Wushu - format is : wushu a, d, t : where a is the number of offense dice, d is the number of defensive dice, and t is the target number. Note that mine is customized for Wuxalted, so the readout displays Scarlet and Ebon dice.
# Fudge - just put : fudge : - this code was written by Mothlos from the SMF User Forums
# Mixed roll - the format is : mixed a,b,c,d,e,f,g :. A-F represent the number of d4s through d20's to roll, respectively, and g represents whether the dice should explode (reroll if they hit their highest number; you should put y or n). Again, you must put a number for each type, even if it's zero. Not elegant, but it works.
OK, I don't know what half of those things are, but maybe y'all do. From examining the source code there are a bunch of other features as well, such as setting a minimum roll to beat and having it automatically role and tell whether you beat it. (Example: To hit, you have to roll a 12 or more. 5d6 rolls... 11. You miss!) If you guys want to see this work, let me know. In the meantime, the summary of those instructions is that you role using : dice xdx :
Now, I'm having to insert extra spaces so that it doesn't roll automatically.
Remove the extra spaces inside the colons. Then roll! Let's try a 6d8:
: dice 6d8 : becomes...

Rolling 6d8: (4+8+2+6+3+4): Total = 27
Feel free to use this thread as practice if you wish. Also, note that you don't get the rolls in previews -- you have to post!
