THE MOST AMAZING CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER!!!
« on: December 11, 2008, 02:24:51 pm »
I think that the most cool, and surprising, christmas gift ever would be if someone randomly donated like 10,000 dollars to the lotrtcgdb counsil to grant everyone the gift of all the cards on their trade list... what do you think?
Time
What know we of this despondent thing
No sign no sound no tranquil ring
We try to tell its quantity
yet fail to see the point
Only one can know of it
to this eternal joint
We have not power in Use
To hold this creature bay
But only wait for it to change
Inside the soul of it we lay

A Ferrari.

No, seriously. A laptop would be the greatest gift ever right now. Sorry. I've gotten all the cards I need to have my fun decks pwning my opponents. I'm out of the fanatic phase of the game anymore. It'll always be the most awesome game, but there's more to life than goofing around.

Sorry to spoil everything with philosophy. ;)

It is and (and maybe) will stay for me the #1 game. It don't play reallife that often, maybe once every 2 months, but I enjoy it everytime. Probably due to the challenge of making new decks, decks that are new, or just crap or just a combination of both.
Best Sinterklaas gift (a national party shamelessly stolen and transformed in to the obese, ugly hohoho shouting, randeer loving, surrounded by midgets dude called Santa overseas) would be a new roof on my house. It is rotten and needs replacement, but probably I will be paying for it myself 1 day.....And 10,000 wouldn't be enough....blugh

Sinterklaas, Zwarte Piet = papernote.  Lekker.

What are we here talking about? What is "on pita"? What does "Piet"(Papernote?? ???) mean?

Hm, it would be amazing, if I could met you all on our tournament in Holland.

Nbarden: Do you like Horseradish? In my country, we have a lot of them  :uh-huh:

How do you celebrate Christmas? In Austria, we do not have a Sinterklaas, at least not the "hohoho" one. On 6th december, St. Nikolaus gives the children apples and nuts and that kind.
On 24th december (midnight), Jesus Christus does bring the parcels.

Ulmo....wow...sorry never seen this...hahaha Yeah pepernoten, those are great. Funny story about those, when I went to Thailnd I was summoned to take some with me for the dutch people working there. At the airport of Bangkok theu went through my lugage and wondered what they were. I told the lady that it is like a dutch treat, a small version of a cookie. I asked her if she wanted to try some, but she refused, thinking it was dogfood ;D.

Elrohir, you have St Nikolaus 6th of december? We have him at the fifth. It is an ancient celebration and the stories of how it evolved vary a lot. Most commonly accepted is that Sinterklaas -as we call him- was a bisshop in Myra, a turkish city. He gave presents to children, and buying free some who where slaves.

He always appears with some helpers, dark skinned people, we call black pete, Zwarte Piet. Some think it is racist action, but trust me it is not. Well, maybe I should quit my explaination, for some might be offended and still stay it is a racist action, but most coloured people here embrase them as heroes ;D.
Some say that the story of Sinterklaas comes from the German god called Wodan who sat on a white horse, going over the roofs and capturing the demons who hid in the chimneys. He had a grabbing hook, we now know as his staff. The demons got black due to the ashes...

To get back on the Myra story, some say that 1 day he bought a Ethiopean slave, that from that day helped St Nicolaas which became Sinterklaas in dutch....

But the best present was given 2008 years ago (for the diehards: yes I know that there are different opinions about the exact date, let me be!!!) with the birth of the One.... :uh-huh:

Oh and I really believe that......;D

As far as I can remember, Zwarte Piet were 3 young boys (Moors) that the bishop saved from execution. In gratitude, they offered to help him with his work.  I was always told the St Nikolaus's birthday was Dec 6th, but was celebrated on the evening of the 5th, when St Nik would come in to everyone's house and read from his book saying who was naughty and who was nice and distribute the pepernoten.  My grandmother used to hurl them at us - getting hit on the head by those things can hurt.  And they are far from dog food my friend!!!  I have some Zoute drop in my cupboard at work - everyone thinks I'm crazy for eating it.   :uh-huh:
