Esgaroth Marketplace format
« on: April 16, 2009, 04:18:23 pm »
Can we decide whether a format for peoples lists need to be decided? Some of them are diabolical, and I think it would improve the forum and peoples willingness to trade if they were tidied up a bit.

Whoah, I thought you were suggesting some kind of crazy new playing format for a second there. ;)

Someone could sticky a suggested format for trade lists on there, but really it's up to the people how they want to present their lists. Better presented lists should get more trades anyway by the natural order.

I suggest keeping brevity as the most important feature of the Marketplace. Effective immediately, here are the new rules:

-Only use abbreviations. These can be either an acronym for the card title (eg. TaBA) or the card's rarity information.
-Use H and W instead of Have and Want.
-Put the number of the cards you have/want directly after its abbreviation.
-Do not use line breaks or any unnecessarily spaces or punctuation.

So a sample list would look like this:

H HttWC 2 SoTT 1 OWMWF 4 GotDC 2 ToFaS 1 TToGG 2 WoBaS 3 PanM 5 W LotN 1 TotNR 3 LR 1 WATFUH 2 TTotGR 1 KoV 2 STP 5 MoKD 2

Except 20 lines longer.

Replies must be of the format of:

Reply: I W SoTT

Original Poster: U H WATFUH?

On second thought, scratch that last question mark. It is redundant.

Failure to comply will result in a strike according to forum policy, with more severe consequences to follow.

I don't think so. Too rigid and the peasantry will revolt.

I mean.

you can suggest it, but really, you can't force anything.  I say the format should be wants at the top, references at the bottom haves in between.  If you don't include collectors info, you should take the time to make sure they all link.
if you have a foreign language card state what language it is, and include an english translation so people can see what it says.

I'm not saying we demand a format, just recommend one
