But anyways, I am not worried about the shadow side because this deck is pretty well off running to site nine with a quick set-up.

Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong about that. One or two big minions really stalls this Fellowship as all they can do is survive it...they can't beat them. But yeah. Definitely wrong there!

What do you think of Gamling, Dutiful Marshal? I like my combination with Eowyn, Restless Warrior: the possessions are -1 twilight cost if I play them on her, and then I transfer them over during the skirmish phase to Gamling.

What do you think of Eomer's Spear, trusty weapon, compared to your Eomer's Spear?

What do you think of Herugrim (4U280) - costs two twilight, compared to your Sword of the Mark - costs three twilight?

I use Rider's Mount on Theoden because it costs 1 twilight instead of your Snowmane which costs 2 twilight... the same for your Windfola on Eowyn... Their effect texts just don't seem to warrant the extra twilight cost, in my opinion.

Also, Eowyn, Lady of Rohan. No exceptions. It's the only one without a fivehead (except Eowyn, Dernhelm (P)).

??? what is a fivehead? ???

Gamling, Dutiful Marshal? I like my combination with Eowyn, Restless Warrior:
Eomer's Spear, trusty weapon

These three cards are not in Movie Block. I would have to play expanded to use them.

What do you think of Herugrim (4U280) - costs two twilight, compared to your Sword of the Mark - costs three twilight?

Herugrim, Sword of the Mark does cost an extra twilight, but to me the game-text is worth it. Because I don't use Theoden, Tall and Proud I do try to keep him alive and I have used SotM's game-text before.

I use Rider's Mount on Theoden because it costs 1 twilight instead of your Snowmane which costs 2 twilight... the same for your Windfola on Eowyn... Their effect texts just don't seem to warrant the extra twilight cost, in my opinion.

This is a point several other people brought up. Personally, I think Snowmane is particularly fantastic because it is my only site-control protection in the deck. Against besiegers and Dunland is it clutch. Windfola is not as great, but I'm not going to complain. I can discard it early in the game and then play it with Merry, Swordthain if I want to avoid the early twilight. Same goes for any other possession.

??? what is a fivehead? ???

A fivehead is a forehead with an extra 25%. This question was originally answered here: http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php/topic,2890.0.html, which is actually where I got the idea for the deck. It's pretty entertaining to watch me trash L3333's idea until I went along with it and realized it was brilliant!

Thanks for the suggestions and thoughts.

Entertaining? I thought you had a personal vendetta against me or something

I played this deck again for the first time in a while and the most beautiful thing happened.

Rallying Call and Cross Roads is an amazing combination!

I have bled through the deck (or close to) but that is the first time I had gotten to Site 8 with this deck...can usually do some pretty serious damage by site seven or I just focus on surviving and running with my quick-started Fellowship.

I've been playing this deck on GCCG a little bit more, and I am running into a few problems. Twice now I have had hands like I've described before:
2 Red Wrath
2 Rout
1 Rallying Call
2 Southron Chieftain
Something else...

I thought I would cycle better with Deor and Leowyn, but I don't want to discard key cards like Red Wrath a turn before a move to a big site (Steward's Tomb) or Rallying Call before Cross Roads.

Just venting, more than having a good suggestion.

I have a Rohandalf / Southron deck that works relatively nice (except when most copies of my Symbelmine and awinl cames after site 5 or 6).

The idea of the freeps is to set up as fast as possible with Symbelmine X4 and Awinl X4 and then do a kind of "choke". Southrons can be very evil BUT you need a good hand in the shadow phase, so this freeps is there to filter a little and raise the odds of having more shadow cards at hand.

Gandalf is there for Sleep Caradhras and Roll of Thunder them all (otherwise Dunland, Shelob, Corsairs, Grond, etc. will make your day tough). I also use one copy of Arrow-Slitz that i play from deck using site 3. then you have Barlin (gets the event you need more in the apropriated time) and the start of the night, Jarnsmin (don´t know if it spelled right)!!! This gandalf ally is the key to keep your "choke" going on. I never realized how his text goes so well in a Rohan deck!

So basically the freeps are there to help filtering and to survive (depending on matchup they can got a freep win also). I found that everytime i play a rohan deck that doesnt have possession discard and that gives too much pool i got slaughtered at final sites (assuming when i was playing against well designed shadows). So keeping the twilight low at final sites was a pretty nice adition. Other than Firefoot and Brego i dont play more horses, i prefer cards like rohirrim helm to save the day.

I tried the initiative engine with southron once but i found Desert Lord + Seasoned + Mumak + Mumak Chiefitain much more effective in killing. I try to keep a high number of minions in the deck to ensure i will have some to play at each shadow phase.

Also, do you realize that if I assign Desert Scout/Runner first and Southron Chieftain as the last minion, no wounds are going to be added. Harsh Tongue is probably going to be discarded before you get 3 tokens on it.

I still have the initiative with Southron Chieftain so that if Harsh Tongues isn't set up yet, I can still get some Rout wounds if the fellowship does decide to move!

I think if I were to re-vote on this deck, I would give it a 3 at best and a 2 at worst. All in all, this deck is not very competitive. And I think I figured out why. My freeps is built to stall and let my Shadow set up quickly, but the Shadow I play is kind of a "stall the other guy" deck so basically, I am stalling on both sides. For what?
