Androgynous [Gollum] cards
« on: September 23, 2009, 03:54:39 pm »
I had this idea over in Thranduil's thread...what if there were [Gollum] cards that worked both ways?

[1] (Card Title) [Gollum]
Event • Skirmish
Make Gollum strength +2.
Play this event from your discard pile to make Smeagol strength +2; place it  under your draw deck instead of discarding it.

Since it is in your discard pile, you could play it during your Free People's skirmish phase for Smeagol and than your Shadow skirmish phase for Gollum. New template necessary?

It's a fun idea, but you would need to think about how the card looks - it can't have only a diamond or a circle, it would have to have some kind of amalgamation of both in order to be both a FP and Shadow card, and then you'd need to specify in the text something like "(When it is your turn, this card is a Free Peoples card. Otherwise it is a Shadow card.)"

Hmm...seems reasonable. Thanks for that thought.

I'm not really going further with this, I just wanted to see what people thought. :gp:

Very cool idea.  :gp:

You could leave the area for twilight cost blank, and have in the rules text (alongside Thranduil's suggestion) "This card has twilight cost 1." That would also make it possible for the two halves to have different costs (ie "While a Free People's card, this card has twilight cost 1. While a Shadow card, it has twilight cost 0").

Nice idea. I've thought a few times about creating some "neutral" cards that would be used by both sides, but I've never been able to come up with a full-fledged idea I was happy with. Eomund's idea would work for the cost, I think, or just do something like put the cost in a square or some other shape not used to date.
Best regards,
Dáin
