Stylistic Question
« on: October 08, 2009, 02:39:11 pm »
As you should all well know by now (I make my opinions very clear), I am not a fan of anything set 11 and beyond. However something that has really killed me are the new templates of the cards.

That said, the Masterworks idea was pretty cool for collectors...tough to find, really drives sales and all...Even though I never liked the Gondor template (Aragorn, Defender of Free Peoples (P) and others gave us a peak quite early in the game) I have always wondered this question:

What would a [Shire] Masterworks template look like?

I used to wonder that about the Elves until set 12, but I really think that the [Shire] could have been very cool. On record, the only alternate templates I did really like were [Gandalf] and [Rohan]. [Dwarven] was okay too, but I like the original template better. The [Wraith] one was okay too.

Yeah seriously, why didn't they ever MW a [Shire] card?  That could have been sweet!  I love [Gandalf] and [Rohan] MW templates as well as [Elven]

I have to think that they didn't make a Masterworks [Shire] template because there were not too many options for alternate colors.

Hobbits don't wear chain mail and they aren't wreathed in darkness and really outside of a hippie floral pattern, I don't know how they could have gone with it! I was thinking "old book" color, but that's kind of the regular [Gandalf] template.

Perhaps something involving pipeweed smoke. That or... hairy feet.
* Kralik imagines a template with feet on the bottom and hairs curling up the sides...

Because the Shire is all about all things that grow, green was kind of the best color. A charcoal-colored [Shire] template would make the Hobbits appear dull.

Which actually might make sense. Because to the eyes of anyone outside of the Shire, Hobbits are dull!
