I too am for Option 1, although I think that makes Final Triumph a wee bit too powerful.

I am confused about One Last Surprise vs Final Triumph though..

Maybe not. Reading the cards again, I am given the impression that Final Triumph would also defeat One Last Surprise and vitality would still be used to resolve the skirmish. Is that right?

Edit: Or possibly which ever event is played first out of the two would change the skirmish to either vitality or resistance an then it would stop the other event from working..?

Resistance is replacing strength (which is not being used)... so yeah, it wouldn't override FT.

Resistance is replacing strength (which is not being used)

Exactly. So if OLS if played first, then it's all about Gandalf's resistance. If final Triumph was then played second, the skirmish would already be resolved by resistance so the vitaltiy part of FT would not activate.

Option 1. The rules for Final Triumph already state this.
"The rule of Gondor is mine!"

Option 1 Hang on ... Can't be overwhelmed unless strength is tripled has to mean something.

Sorry - didn't spend enough time reading each option. I agree with those below ... Option 4.

Option 4.

If we're going with option 1, I think the CRD bit should be covered by the rules (instead of by a card entry). Something like:

If one side of a skirmish is resolving using an attribute other than strength, determine the winning side and whether the losing side is overwhelmed solely by comparing attribute values, following the procedure [outlined in the rulebook]. Ignore any effect that would change this outcome, except for effects that increase or decrease the value used by that side.

As mentioned, I don't believe a "normal" resolution follows this ruling (TTotGR works without reference to strength; Coat of Mail works just fine even though it doesn't increase or decrease strength), but it seems to be what the CRD is saying.

I'm also assuming that the line "As a result, none of the cards that previously had an effect on strength during a skirmish have any effect on a skirmish in which this card is played" refers only to the skirmish resolution.

Since this is such a close vote (basically a tie), let's give one more day (Sept. 2) for any other votes, or changes of opinion.  Thanks guys!

I think option 4 is ridiculous.

Option 1 has my vote still.

Edit: I would really like to hear more opinions on what happens with OLS vs Final Triumph though..

Option 1. Strength is not involved, so those cards do not apply. FT is a powerhouse card, being used too little. In my humble opinion, when it comes to OLS vs FT, I do believe it is a matter of order. Which card was played first? That cards takes away the strenght factor, leaving the other card worthless. How cool would it be though to actually see such a skirmish!

Option 1 it is.  I have updated the "Unofficial Rulebook" to clarify this.

Thank you all for working together on this!
