The Unholy Sword of Ridiculousness
« on: October 02, 2008, 11:54:38 am »
Suggestion. We mods get a Unholy Sword of Ridiculousness option for GP beggers, and can select a picture of our choice. Then it goes the an admin for approval.

B/C we do have GP beggers back.

I have to confess...I don't know exactly what this mighty sword is. Obviously I missed something. Explain?
Best regards,

That's b/c Conor never used it when you were there, and the only times he would be justified using it was when he had disappeared.

Quote from: Conor on Old Forums
From this point forward, anyone who attempts to whine or barter for gold pieces will be smitten by the Unholy Sword of Ridiculousness.

When struck by this enchanted blade, the victim immediately becomes forgetful and can't remember where he hid his stash of gold pieces. How tragic!

The Unholy Sword of Ridiculousness also has a tendency to leave deep, ridiculous-looking scars. Victims may find that they are no longer recognized as TCG Experts (for example), but instead resemble Dead Ferrets or something equally distasteful.

Pretty much, your avatar gets changed and locked, your title gets changed and your gold disappears.

Eh...maybe. I'd be reluctant to give that kind of power out to anyone but Kralik and I, personally. Not that I don't trust you guys--it's why I made you all moderators, after all!--but changing people avatars and such rings of potential outcry to me.

If limited to repeat offenders (and therefore something that likely wouldn't ever have to be done), then I guess it MIGHT be okay. I'd prefer limiting it to Kralik, myself, and the global mods, though.

Not like GP gains people a whole lot beyond status right now anyway. :P
Best regards,
Dáin

I'd go for a Public Warning against GP-begging (gp should be earned, not begged for). Then, first offenders get they're Gold Count reset to 0, and we can think about the "public humiliation" (for instance, Conor used a Dead Ferret for the branding avatar) procedure. ABout power to do so, I think it's best for Dáin and Kralik to decide about how to proceed. But yeah, even though gold serves no purpose right now, I still think we should at least TRY to show status through it, so gp-begging should be out of the question.

That's my thinking. Seeing as GP does, well, nothing at the moment, couldn't we use the Sword for something more... commonplace?

Like, being a grammatical nincompoop.

I volunteer to wield the Unholy Sword of Ridiculousness in a noble crusade to wipe out grammatical nincompoopery!
Forget it. I'm not arguing with the computer anymore to try to get the sig I want....

Yeah, we should try to elevate the status of GP. Because then once we do get Forum Shops back...

As for smiting SoP for bad grammar, I'm for that as well.

I do have some ideas for gold, but they will require hard-coding on my part. It will still be important, but it might be some time before I can get to it.
