Re: Gandalf/Elven/Moria Deck

Wow...this deck was terrifying to look through. It is awfully disheveled and probably does too many things to be successful.

My first thought was looking at the site path. I think you have to pick either FoTR block site path or Standard (i.e., sets 11-19) sites. Otherwise, there are too many loops that can be initiated and that's just a problem.

So let's take a look at the Free Peoples. You have cut it to 41 cards, but there are only eight copies of companions. Considering you'll either start Gandalf or two of the others, you could have as few as six companions in your deck. That is far too few. I like the idea of Gandalf support with Elves, so let's expand on that.

Now, of course, I will want to make this a Movie Block deck. Movie Block is the best (to me) as it represented a time when Decipher was still on top of the TCG universe and was not dealing with multiple financial issues. Movie Block is sets 1-10. If someone wants to recommend something from other sets, go right ahead! I know Rumil, Silvan Elf and Orophin, Silvan Elf are ridiculously powerful, so why not do that?!

If you did go the rout of Expanded, my first question would be "why do you have a copy of Aragorn, King in Exile?" He's worthless to your deck as the only companion you can heal with him is Frodo! My recommendation is to cut him completely if you do decide to go Expanded.

Back to Movie Block. [Elven] works very well with [Gandalf] support. My brother runs a deck that uses Gandalf, Manager of Wizards and Legolas, Fearless Marksman to control initiative with Glimpse of Fate and Brooding On Tomorrow. That would definitely be my recommendation; however, Elven Army techniques are very strong as well.

Here is his deck list:
Starting Fellowship:
Galadriel, Bearer of Wisdom
Answer To All Riddles
Legolas, Fearless Marksman
Arwen, Queen of Elves and Men

Free Peoples (34):
Elrond, Venerable Lord x2
Cirdan, the Shipwright
Celeborn, Lord of the Galadhrim x2
Gandalf, Manager of Wizards x3
Sam, Son of Hamfast

Nenya, Ring of Adamant x2
Gwemegil
Bow of the Galadhrim
Elven Bow x3
Glamdring

Shadow Between
Glimpse of Fate x2
Brooding On Tomorrow x2

Double Shot x3
Still Needed x4
Gift of Foresight x3

His deck is built to cycle, throw some archery wounds out, and let the remaining Arwen and gang take care of the rest. Some good cards to use with this deck may be Lembas Bread (reconcile before double moving, so you can use Glimpse of Fate and Brooding On Tomorrow again!) and Terrible and Evil (avoid Shotgun Enquea). Gil-Galad, Elven High King can also mop up some of the mess before a double move. And Asfaloth is a great card for Galadriel or Arwen, seeing as there are only two underground sites in Movie Block (and they are a site 3 and 4!)

Anyways...that is close to how I would run the free peoples in Movie Block. I will tackle the Shadow later.
