Weta Collection (0P56 - 0P60)

Legal in: Standard, Expanded, Open
Banned in: Fellowship, Tower, King, War of the Ring, Hunters, Movie

0P62 - 0P67

Legal in: none

I hope you don't mind if I contribute questions / feedback here.

Interestingly, the deck validator for GCCG has the Weta Collection (0P56 - 0P60) specifically entered in as legal for Movie block. I assume this was wlk's doing? There must be a reasoning behind it.

Re: 0P62 - 0P67

Really, legal in none? But I so love the card image from Frodo, Mr. Underhill (who is exactly the same as Frodo, Reluctant Adventurer, aside from the signet).

Yup correct. Theyre all based on digital versions of these cards that as you won tournaments on the online game you got points you could distribute to make them better, like giving gimli damage +2 defender +1 and strength +2 as standard etc...

So they arent even real cards technically, and definately not useable.

By all means, go ahead. I was thinking these could eventually be forwarded to whoever has the authority to decide these things (or put to polls), and that's when the real trial begins. Until then, question everything!

He might know something I don't. I went by the LOTRO definition, which didn't include the Weta Collection.

It is an awesome image. I also love the one used in Moria Skirmishers, and was really disappointed to discover it was never printed (however watered down). :(

Wait, so you are saying that there is no physical printed copy of these digital cards?

No no thats why i said technically. They are physical, but only the basic versions of the digital ones, before they got pimped by users.  Its just that they are LITERALLY only promos. You cant use them (part from social play if your mates agree) and they were never designed to play in tournaments of blocks or anything cos essentially the idea was for them to be upgraded on LOTRO so the physical versions were a bit pointless.

I had all of them digital and physical. Even pimped a saruman that they didnt release as physical. They fetch a fortune. Sold mine as part of the complete promo set i had, but couldve made $50 each on them. And they cost $10 for entering the digital torunamentS!

All the same, I don't see why some of them can't be legal in online play, at least in Open and Expanded. The only one that's really OP is 0P66 (and maybe 0P63). I see no reason not to allow use of the others.

As for the rest...looks good to me.

I don't think that either is all that OP. I'd still probably use Eomer, TMoR instead of that one... the damage bonus isn't worth too much when you consider Eomer + Firefoot + Eomer's Spear is quite damaging already.

True, but keep in mind that you can easily get him for [1].

What about 0P63? I always thought it was over the top, but maybe not....

Thought of another one. Maybe I've just been misreading things, but I thought the action procedure was confusing regarding how it steps through successive triggers:

Quote from: action
After all such required actions have resolved, players may perform optional actions responding to that same trigger using the action procedure.
Quote from: action procedure
As the Free Peoples player, you get the first opportunity to perform an action...
So I'm looking at "that same trigger" and thinking that with each new trigger, the Free Peoples player gets the first opportunity to respond. In other words, each new trigger creates a nested action procedure. It'd look like this:

Trigger 1
FP responds to Trigger 1 (creating Trigger 2)
  FP responds to Trigger 2
  S responds to Trigger 2
 S responds to Trigger 1

Instead it seems that the action procedure continues from the previous trigger. In other words, each new trigger is contained within one action procedure. It'd look like this:

Trigger 1
FP responds to Trigger 1 (creating Trigger 2)
  S responds to Trigger 2
  FP responds to Trigger 2
 S responds to Trigger 1

So I haven't quite figured out how to word this, but maybe something like:

After all such required actions have resolved, players may perform optional actions responding to that same trigger in an order that continues the action procedure from before.

This really takes off in multi-player. As I understand it, it'd look like this:

Trigger 1
FP responds to Trigger 1 (creating Trigger 2)
S1 responds to Trigger 2 (creating Trigger 3)
S2 responds to Trigger 3 <-- not FP!
    FP responds to Trigger 3
    S1 responds to Trigger 3
  S2 responds to Trigger 2
  FP responds to Trigger 2
 S1 responds to Trigger 1
 S2 responds to Trigger 1

The above might look confusing, but basically each new line continues the FP -> S1 -> S2 cycle.

Yes/no?

Why's this in the white council? This is still the people's games, the mods don't make the rules of the game.

In most cases threads for these rulings exist already (although people may not have come to an agreement). We could start a list of standing questions in the Archives, but it turning into a 20-page debate might not do much good without a system to resolve them.

Instead of keeping things to myself, though, this is just going halfway with a repository that anyone's welcome to add to. Maybe it'd be of use in the future.

I just kinda view ourselves as regulating the forums and not deciding the direction of the game.

The way I read it is that ES is just trying to get together a good list a starting point when we launch the PC forum. Right?
