Actually, the shooting tits would be kind of cool. I have no rules, and my safe word is 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.'

Fem-bots....what creepy invention. In Revenge of the Fallen the concept was taken to the next level, enough to disable any man alive......

I have a few points I'd like to add in reference to different parts of this thread:

1) I am agnostic. If "good" and "evil" exist at all outside of human perception, I do not know of it. I therefore think of them as nothing more than words (ie. labels) applied to subjects on the basis of whether or not those same subjects appeal to the perceiver. In other words, one man's good is another man's evil, and vice versa.

2) Luke Skywalker et al (and, on a larger scale, the Alliance to Restore the Republic) are the protagonists in a space opera - a high fantasy with a spacefaring setting. They perceive the Galactic Empire to be evil. Therefore, we are expected to some degree, by the storyteller, to do the same. The goodies say their enemies are baddies, so therefore their enemies must be baddies. A simplification of how these things work in real life... or is it?

3) The opening crawl of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope reads as follows:

Episode IV
A NEW HOPE
It is a period of civil war.
Rebel spaceships, striking
from a hidden base, have won
their first victory against
the evil Galactic Empire.

During the battle, Rebel
spies managed to steal secret
plans to the Empire's
ultimate weapon, the DEATH
STAR, an armored space
station with enough power
to destroy an entire planet.

Pursued by the Empire's
sinister agents, Princess
Leia races home aboard her
starship, custodian of the
stolen plans that can save her
people and restore
freedom to the galaxy....

(NB: The underline is mine).

4) "Terrorism" is another interesting word. It tends to be used by a large, powerful group to label the only means of waging war against it that is left available to a much smaller, much less powerful group. And no, that does NOT mean I am advocating the destruction of the World Trade Center.

5) As a long-time Star Wars fan, I can confirm that there are several 'layers' of official Star Wars canon. The first and foremost is G-canon (George Lucas canon), which is made up of all six feature films that make up the Star Wars Saga.

6) Kev-La's Law states "Just because somebody calls their personal opinion, their "Law", it does not necessarily mean that it is one". Godwin's Law is not a law of any kind; it is merely a humorous observation meant to warn people against taking the actions of the Nazis too lightly. Personally, I think citing Hitler as a real-world analogue of Palpatine is entirely justifiable, regardless of how far into a discussion that citation is made.

7) "You have failed me for the last time, Admiral..." Vader's just too cool, isn't he?

I'd say the mass-annihilation of the Jedi was pretty evil.

Hey! Hey! Hey! I said just episodes 4, 5, and 6. As for those films, it is only implied that the Jedi were killed by the Sith. And you know what? If they were leading a rebellion, I can see why a government would want to wipe them out.

It wouldn't be the first time that a rebellion got quelled by a government and a lot of these governments wouldn't be considered "evil."

Right, I realised after posting that episode two evilness doesn't apply.

This must be one of the most replied too topics in such a short time though.. amazing.

I'm imploring people I've never met to pressure a government with better things to do to punish a man who meant no harm for something nobody even saw, thats what I'm doing!

See, but the opening credits just refer to the Empire as sinister. But that'd be the same as me referring to Heije as a drunken, swashbuckling, cheater.

Everyone here knows GE's a good guy, but if I put that in the opening credits of my movie, people would be wary of his character the whole film.

P.S. Heije, I knew you'd play along and not be offended. When I'm at a real computer, I'll throw you a :gp:
Edit: Paid in full.

P.S.S. MuadDib, Everyone can talk about Star Wars. Easy way to get activity on the boards is to say that Luke Skywalker is Pol Pot.

well if were talking about plot holes...

In ep 4, why didn't the empire blow the planet in their way to smithereens so they could destroy Yavin 4

The gravitational turbulance alone, not to mention the falling debris, would've destroyed the moon.

If that is the case, then the Death Star also would have been obliterated.

Good point, but what was the range on the Death Star's firing capabilities?

I think it may have something to do with the planet Yavin being a gas giant as opposed to a solid mass like Alderaan.

Hmmm .... not sure about this. Gas giants have no solid surface - they are gas. I am pretty sure I saw the rebels on solid ground so Yavin 4 must be a terrestrial planet.
